Dad's 80th

Today is my dad's 80th birthday!  I was watching Glenn Beck yesterday ( I know you all are shocked) and he was talking about his dad who is almost 80. That was really weird for me.  My dad is older than Glenn's dad?  Anyway, yesterday we had a lunch for him.  My sisters decorated it all in his glory days of football.  There were pictures, articles, his old football, his Letterman jacket and other things.  He loved it.  His sister and cousins surprised him from out of state.  It was a great thing for him.  He is such a wonderful man.  I have loved living here in NM because I can be close to him.  He has come so far in his life and grown a lot.

I emailed as many people as I could think of to write him a letter for his birthday.  I learned so much about him from those letters.  I learned about how many people love him ALMOST as much as I do.  It was so fun to do.  We had over 60 letters.  Then while I was at the party I thought about 10 other people I had forgotten to ask for a letter.  He has influenced so many people in the years he has been around.

He still goes to work every day.  He will work til the day he dies.  He loves it.  That is where he feels at home and comfortable.  He is still doing pretty well for his age.  When I see other 80 year olds I feel better about my dad.  When I think about my dad comparing him to 15 years ago then I get sad.  It was an emotional, great day yesterday.  We are going to lunch today too for it and then tomorrow going to "WICKED"!!!! YAY!  I think that might be more for us than him.   Here are some pics of yesterday.

These were the second best red velvet cupcakes I have ever had.  Magnolia's is the best of course.

That's great! My dad is 82 this year. You, Marci, and I all have older dads.
